Q: Does my pet need to be vaccinated for boarding, doggy day care or grooming?

A: All dogs must have the following vaccinations for boarding or doggy day care: Bordetella (every six months), Rabies & Distemper (1 year or 3 year). All cats must have the following vaccinations for boarding: Rabies and Feline Distemper.  Day care is not available for cats. Groom dogs or cats do not need to be vaccinated, however, it is recommended.

Q: Is there a temperament test required for my pet?

A: Yes. All dogs who are boarding or attending doggy day care will go through a thorough temperament test in order to ascertain if your pet is food, water or toy aggressive or aggressive towards humans or other pets. Additionally, unneutered males will be tested to determine if they are able to interact with other dogs.  There is a one-time fee of $25.00 associated with this test. This test is not required for groom or bath dogs.

Q: Does my pet need to be neutered for boarding or doggy day care?

A: No. Sometimes it is best to have your pet neutered so that they do not show dominance towards other dogs, in effect, minimizing humping. Unneutered males never interact with females in heat. Our temperament test will determine if unneutered males may interact with other dogs.

Q: Is doggy day care included in my boarding price?

A: Yes

Q: Do I need to bring food for my pet for his/her boarding stay?

A: Yes. Our food is $3.00 per meal / serving. Also, your pet may be on a special diet or different brand of food and it may upset his/her stomach and/or give him/her diarrhea.

Q: Are small dogs with large dogs in the day care rooms?

A: Our temperament test will determine which pets interact with one another during the day. Our day care dogs are grouped according to size, temperament, personality and playfulness. Once assigned to a group, typically, the dog will remain with only that group.

Q: What happens if my pet fails the temperament test?

A: The test is not a pass/fail. It determines if your pet is able to interact with other pets in a closed room, if your pet can only interact with other pets in an outside setting or if your pet can only interact with humans. Regardless, each pet goes outside to the play yard the same number times during the day for play time.

Q: Is there a deposit required to book a reservation to board my pet for overnight stay?

A: Yes. Due to the high demand for kennels at our facility, we require a $25.00 per pet deposit to reserve your kennel. We will not make a reservation without the required deposit.

Q: Will I lose my deposit if I cancel my boarding reservation?

A: No. However, we do not issue refunds. Your deposit will remain on your client record at The Dog House for future credit towards boarding, grooming, day care or any retail product.

Q: Is there a charge to administer medication to my pet?

A: Yes. The fee is $2.00 for each pill/injection each time we administer the medication. To avoid this fee, you can pre-bag the food and place the pill in the bag of food for your pet.
